The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is the United States government’s principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help themselves. HHS is headed by the Secretary who is the chief managing officer for their family of agencies, including 11 operating divisions, 10 regional offices, as well as the Office of the Secretary.

Their mission is to foster health and well-being by providing federal leadership, partnership and resources for the compassionate and effective delivery of human services
National Institute of Justice
The National Institute of Justice — the research, development and evaluation agency of the U.S. Department of Justice — is dedicated to improving knowledge and understanding of crime and justice issues through science. NIJ provides objective and independent knowledge and tools to reduce crime and promote justice, particularly at the state and local levels. It is a source of funding for juvenile and criminal justice services.
